the space

Originally built in 1926 as a showroom and warehouse for the Vitrolite Glass Company, the 18,000-square-foot building was purchased in 2022 to become a neighborhood space for local makers, professionals and families. Building updates and renovations honor the history of the space while pushing it into a bold new direction.

Patron Saint is located in the original showroom space (hence all the different styles of tiles on the wall).

the people

Marie Artale, owner

Marie Artale was born and raised in Cleveland’s west side and has been passionate about hospitality her entire life. Marie holds a B.S in Hospitality Management with a concentration in Beverage Management from Cornell University. During her Junior year, Marie studied abroad in Florence, Italy for four months, which inspired the concept for Patron Saint.

After graduation, Marie moved to NYC to work for the city’s premier restaurant supplier followed by four years of working in the Hudson Valley for a luxury wedding and event venue, Cedar Lakes Estate. During this time, she also passed her Court of Master Sommeliers Level 1 certification.

Marie moved back to Cleveland in 2020 to pursue her life-long dream of owning her own restaurant. She worked at Ohio City Provisions, Fresh Fork Market, and Cleveland Field Kitchen as she looked for the perfect space for her all-day cafe and aperitivo concept.

Marie signed the lease for Patron Saint in July 2022 and spent the next year managing the construction and development.
